  • Senadi 2019: The Role of Data Science in Era 4.0

Industrial Revolution 4.0 that occurs today provides a lot of technology with the possibility of application in various fields that are very broad. Even now it can be used in optimizing existing technology. For example in the use of big data in doing predictions or as data analysts about what will happen to an issue, object, trend or other in the future with the information that is already owned. The role of data and digital for the future is indeed important in the era of this modern age industry. The potential and role of data science is the main topic in the 2019 Senadi (National Seminar on Informatics Dynamics) held by the Informatics Engineering Study Program (IT) PGRI Yogyakarta University (UPY) with the theme & LDQUO; The Role of Data Science in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 & RDQO; With the speaker Prof.DR.EMA UTAMI, S.Si., M.Kom and Dr. Edhy Sutanto, M.Kom. The activity was carried out on Tuesday (23/4) at the UPY Auditorium.

In his remarks Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Information Engineering, Nurirwan Saputra S.Kom., M.Eng. Expressing & LDQUO; In the current era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 can be said to be the time of the data. Data is something important, as said by Jack Maa (alibaba.com) to control the world in the future must be able to master the data, so for today there are many competitive companies related to data. & Rdquo; He said. < /P>

Meanwhile UPY Rector Dr. Ir. Paiman, M.P. In his remarks expressed & ldquo; today for promotion to students do not have to go around everywhere and simply use social media or internet media and then distributed through the internet which will quickly be conveyed to other regions & rdquo;. If we want to become a superior tertiary institution, one of the things we must maintain that can master the world is about information, today we open our computer we can see the world anywhere, & rdquo; said the Chancellor Upty in his remarks. It is all inseparable from the age of increasingly sophisticated technology and of course also inseparable from data that is almost all in the form of digital data.

Prof.Dr.Ma Utami, S.Si., M.Kom, as a guest speaker said that the importance of data due to a very large pile of data will bring many benefits, especially for the purpose business. At this time in everyday life the data is not only in the form of physical, with the current development of technology especially digital technology, all types of data are now in the form of digital data. Digital data without us knowing milling about in various communication networks. Therefore we must also remain careful with the use of data. & RDQUO; He continued. Digital data around us has a large variation and volume as well as very rapid changes which are big data. So the person who mastered the big data that will control the world. In his explanation Prof. Dr.ema Utami, S.Si., M.Kom revealed that there are three main sciences for success in processing big data, namely computer science or informatics, statistical mathematics, and then the domain of knowledge that will be processed by the data. The main driver of the industrial revolution from the first to the present or the Revolution 4.0 although the various domains, but the campus is one of the motorcycles because it inevitably the government must cooperate with universities so that the curriculum supports data science and industry 4.0.

Prof. Ema said that at this time all that have been connected from all human activities can be ordered or can be digitized, as on the toll road that is now also replaced by the machine, all activities along the toll road have shifted from toll road users with officers to become users tolls with programs or machines. Then something that cannot be mechanically or robbed will have a unique value from the material, namely the basic traits of humans such as empathy, onelasasih, love, wise, creativity, perseverance, uniqueness, security, self-esteem, social needs, recognition, friendship , self-actualization. As sophisticated as a technological engine or robot to what extent he has humanitarian sides. All of these are examples of values that must be possessed today in order to be able to present a breakthrough of various technologies that have human qualities. & RDQUO; He explained.

  • UPY students optimize computer vision as a solution to traffic problems

The 2019 National Dynamics of Information Seminar (Senadi) held on April 23, 2019 carries the theme & LDQUO; The Role of Data Science in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 “. This theme was raised because data plays an important role in the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Senadi 2019 was held at the Yogyakarta PGRI University Auditorium Building with very competent speakers in their fields, namely Prof. Ema Utami, S.Si., M.Kom (Figure 1) who is an expert on data science and author of the digital book is ME and the second speaker is Dr. Edhy Sutanta, M. One of the interesting articles included in the 2019 Senadi is & LDQUO; Implementation of Machine Learning and Computer Vision in the Development of Classification and RDQUO Classification and Calculation Systems;, this article was presented by one of the 2017 UPY Informatics students named Dian Agustiani. MBA Dian is one of the outstanding students with a Cumlaude GPA of 3.53. Students who currently work at the Bantul Regency Regional Financial and Asset Agency (BKAD) see problems related to the growth of the number of vehicles which eventually have increased road traffic burdens. Density and congestion have become commonplace, especially in big cities. This makes the local government, through the officers owned, making various efforts, one of which is traffic engineering. The woman who is currently a civil servant has found traffic engineering which is usually based on the density of the number of vehicles and types of vehicles found on a road. Various technological solutions can be applied to accommodate these needs, one of which is computer vision, explained Mba Dian in a parallel session presentation (Figure 3).

Figure 3. Mba Dian when presenting her research in a parallel session

One of the technologies used in Mba Dian’s research is computer vision technology. This technology can be used as an alternative solution in helping traffic monitoring officers and their support is available in the form of open source library , namely by utilizing the functions contained in the OpenCV library. The library has been able to classify the type of vehicle for then calculated by the system (Figure 4).

With the automation of the classification and calculation of the number of vehicles, it is expected to ease the workload of officers.

Senadi 2019 went well and smoothly, and was closed with the submission of certificates by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Nurirwan Saputra, M.Eng (Figure 4) .
