Student Association of Bachelor of Elementary School Teacher Education Program in PGRI Yogyakarta University held an Online Seminar and Call For Papers Virtual 2020 with the theme & LDQUO; Developing Cultural-Based Character Education Towards Society 5.0 & RDQO;. The online seminar was held at the 5th Floor Studio of the Faculty of Saintek Building with Live Streaming YouTube upyTV and via zoom with the speaker, Prof. Dr. Muchlas Samani, M.Pd (Professor of Unesa Education Management), Prof. Dr. Endang Nurhayati, M.Hum (Lecturer in Javanese Cultural UNY), and Dr. Dhiniaty Gularso, S.Si, M.Pd (Educational Expert Ki Ageng Suryomentaram and UPY lecturer).
The online seminar was opened by Ari Wibowo, M.Pd (PGSD Kaprodi), he hoped that even though the seminar was held virtually or online, hopefully it would not reduce the essence of the seminar to open our minds Regarding challenges, especially in the field of education in the future with very rapid technological developments in this digital era. Likewise what was conveyed by Darsono, M.Pd (Dean of FKIP UPY), he said that in the development of science and technology that was so rapid, we inevitably be required to follow these developments. Knowledge and technology are efforts to increase human dignity. But on the other hand sometimes negative factors arise from the development of knowledge and technology. That’s why we need to respond to how to prepare humans. If the Industrial Revolution is examined 4.0 is oriented to knowledge and technology, while the concept of Society 5.0 is oriented towards humans. This means how we prepare today’s society to face the industrial revolution 5.0.
according to Prof. Dr. Muchlas Samani, M.Pd & LDQUO; Being an elementary teacher is like a foundation of a house so his role is important because it supports the house, giving a foundation to education in junior high schools, high schools and even college. The role of elementary school teachers is not visible because it is like a foundation, which appears to be a wall or roof (junior high, high school, college). Education does not only teach the ability but the character or character must be instilled in the next generation. Character is needed for all aspects of life, where we know that the digital era has entered life that makes the rich or successful people needed is hard work. Make the cultural environment around us as well as possible to instill character in us all because by creating an environment with a good culture, the character is also good. Instill character values that are in accordance with the culture of the Indonesian people with existing diversity in accordance with their respective regions so that existing cultural values can be implanted in the next generation. Character cannot be taught but transmitted with example, by whom? By us as the next generation of the nation.
While on the second material about cultural-based character education, Prof. Endang Nurhayati, M.Hum said & LDQUO; Do not let education without character and education must refer to cultural values, especially in Indonesia which is famous for cultural diversity, means we must adjust to the cultural values that exist in our respective regions & RDQO; . Because with this culture can create the values of valuable people’s lives. Prof. Endang also explained that related to Javanese culture, namely the character values contained in Javanese culture can be instilled through the song Macapat such as Dandang Sugar, Pangkur, then through literature, wangsalan, Javanese calendar technology, reference and mantra. Local cultural values can be used as material for the creation of literary works in cross-time, and cross-cultural as long as there are those who explore and re-socialize, by selecting values that are still relevant and supported by artifacts and adequate science.
while the third speaker, Dr. Dhiniaty Gularso, S.Si, M.Pd explained Kawruh Pamomong Ki Ageng Suryomentaram in the Society 5.0 era about the relevance and implementation of learning in elementary schools. Kawruh Pamomong is a way to educate with Raos or a sense of soul so that children act right, have love and beautifully. According to him & LDQUO; Kawruh Pamomong Kas can be a solution to foster Raos/a sense of creative and innovative souls of elementary school students through learning on each lesson content. This is because Kawruh Pamomong Cash is a way to foster competency attitudes in each lesson content and not change the substance of the material of each content of the lesson contained in competencies. Then through the teacher’s invitation to students to think right, & ldquo; Sih & RDQUO; and beautiful to a social problem, students will act right, & ldquo; Sih & rdquo; and beautiful in determining the best solution to every problem.
