Yogyakarta PGRI University (UPY) in collaboration with the Bantul General Election Commission (KPU) formed a Student Election Institute under the name of the UPY Student Election Commission (KPUM).
This institution was formed permanently with the task of carrying out the student election. Namely, student presidential election for the university level, student governor for the faculty level and student regent for the study program level (study program).
The formation of the KPUM Student Election Institution begins with education and training (training) which lasts three days & nbsp; Tuesday to Thursday (15-17/3/2022) with the Bantul KPU Commissioner resource person.
UPY Deputy Rector III Dr. Septian Aji Permana said that KPUM is a form of UPY’s commitment to apply democratic values in the campus environment. 40 students are members of the KPUM. They were tasked with carrying out the election of student presidential, student governor and student regent simultaneously, September 2022.
“Through this KPUM, students are expected to be able to learn directly about the implementation of democratic elections,” he said.
Septian said that students who are members of the KPUM Student Institute are ready to assist the Bantul KPU, especially in the Election Education Activities in the 2024 Election Stage.
Bantul KPU Chairperson Didik Joko Nugroho emphasized that the formation of a permanent student election institution by UPY was an innovative breakthrough in democracy in the campus environment.
“There is a strategic role that can be done by the student selection institution, one of which is the driving force of the application of democratic values in the campus environment,” he said.
