Community service activities are one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. UPY Postgraduate Lecturer has a commitment to carry out the Tri Dharma of the Higher Education. This activity can be assessed as one of the tasks for institutions, lecturers, employees, and students.
This kind of activity, the form of community service activities, this can be in the form of structured, group and independent activities. The technical implementation of community service activities is coordinated by the Community Service Center (LPPM) Yogyakarta PGRI University (LPPM) and/or together with the leaders of the Faculty/Department/Study Program.
In order to increase cooperation with partners, the UPY PIPS Study Program carries out community service in the Gunungkidul, Bantul and Kulonprogo districts, with the target of social studies teachers. In 2017 the UPY PIPS Study Program provided training in writing research proposals for class action and writing scientific journal articles. Teachers who are members of MGMP IPS in the three districts. This activity involved four lecturers, namely: Dr. Sunarti, M.Pd, Dr. Salamah, M.Pd., Dr. Gunawan Sridiyatmiko, M.Pd and Dr. Esti Setiawati, M.Pddan 1 Staff of the Sumardi Postgraduate Program, S.Pd. This activity was attended by the Head of the Department of Dikpora in each district.

After providing material, the training activities continued with the practice of writing PTK proposals and scientific junral writing facilitated through clinical and presentation activities. This activity was held in a period of 36 hours in each group. Although this activity was carried out in a few days, all participants and teams were enthusiastic about participating in this event.

The result of this activity is an increase in understanding of the research methodology of PTK and writing scientific journal articles.
